S7-300 comms problem

Post by ControlEng »

I am using WinLog Lite for the first time connected via MPI lead to S7-313C 2DP CPU. When I run a Test template the System status Icon has RED indicator and when I open it says READ 1 Error.
The Template has 1 Digital tag looking at MB0.0 which is ON all the time, assigning this to a LED it does not illuminate. I think I may have setup the Channels incorrect as it is my first time.

Channel 1 - Configuration - Siemens MPI / Options
Device - PC Adapter USB
Bus Baud rate 187K
PC MPI address - 0
Timeout 2000ms
Query 20ms

The COM and Virtual are showing COM1 115200 Baud - HOWEVER my USB use Simatic Device USB not a COM port number

PLC Connection
PLC Type S7-300
Station address 1 (not sure if this should be 2 as Step 7 MPI us address 2 - tried 2 but no difference)
Segment id 0
Rack number 0
Slot number 0

Devices
Channel 1
Device 1

Any ideas why the LED is not lighting as it looks like a comms problem with System status Red indicator

Thanks Dave

Hi The MPI lead to laptop works fine, Step 7 works with it no problem. But when I shutdown Step7 to use WinLog it will not connect using that USB adapter

Looking at the System Status
Gate sampling - OK
Status - OK
Reading errors 144 and counting

Hi Solved problem I increased Bus Timeout in Channels from default 1000ms to 3000ms and it's working.
